English portrait painter Arthur Devis made his mark in the artistic world in the early 1700’s with his numerous amount of commissioned pieces for couples on their wedding day. One of his gorgeous pieces, like the one above, shows the couple “Mr. and Mrs. Atherton”, and is believed to have been created to commemorate their wedding.
